Autumn 2015

In Class 4 this term much of our learning has been focused on Ancient Egypt. We have learnt about the different types of pyramids that were built and we then had the challenge of making the nets for each different type. This required good teamwork, careful planning and accurate measuring. We have also looked at 3D shapes in Maths and built nets of various 3D shapes before sorting them according to different properties. We have also been learning about fossils and dinosaurs. We have been enjoying our learning log homework tasks and have impressed our teachers with our creative approaches to the tasks.

Class 4 took part in Lego Mindstorm workshops run by staff from Legoland Windsor. The children worked with Mindstorm robots and had to program their actions using iPads. The sessions were hugely enjoyable as well as educational, teaching the children lots of new skills, and for many this was their first real taste of computer programming. It was a very inspiring morning and the children had great fun programming their robots to reach a satellite in Mars before rescuing a lost rover!
