This term we have made an excellent start on our Vikings topic. We have learned lots already with more to come after half term. We all thoroughly enjoyed a Viking longboat art day, and used watercolour texture techniques, shading and wax resist to create some fantastic final pieces. We also had a fantastic array of Viking longboats handed in for one of our Learning Log challenges. The children very much enjoyed looking at each other’s creations and learning from each other.
In RE, we had a debate about our responsibility to feed those who are hungry. The children gave some very well structured speeches which led to a passionate discussion from both sides. We have some future politicians amongst us! The debate linked in with our work on Harvest, as well as our Literacy work this term which has been themed around the book 'Mr Stink' by David Walliams.
This second half term, Class 4 have written poems for Remembrance Day which some of us performed in church. In another RE lesson, we used drama to explore the story of The Wedding of Cana. An exciting time was had with the Lego workshop, where we worked as teams to use Lego to create storyboards, which we then developed into stories to tell to the class. We used some of our Literacy lessons to develop these further by writing the story in greater depth. We also had a super day dressed as superheroes! We used all of our Super Learning Powers to complete different activities.
