Autumn 2017

Autumn Term 1

This half term we have started learning about Ancient Egypt, and as well as our learning in History we have also written Ancient Egyptian stories in Literacy and made Egyptian masks in Art.

In PE we worked with some members of Class 5 to create our own 'Haka' dances.

We all had a great day on 'No Pens Day Wednesday', when we followed instructions to create an origami model and used calculators to solve problems, as well as some interesting and informative discussions about how the Egyptians used the River Nile.

Autumn Term 2

This half term we have continued our learning about Ancient Egypt and completed a Maths challenge to draw a net and construct a pyramid or a mastaba (flat-topped pyramid). We also completed some super learning log homework linked to Egypt and even had some Egyptian bread to try!

In Maths we have worked in groups to solve problems and present our working and ideas as a poster.

We also completed a Big Write sessions linked to our RE learning about Remembrance Day. We wrote poems which we then hung up at the entrance gate to school. We loved reading each others poems and several members of the class read their poems out to everyone.
